Compare and contrast
Here’s the cover art for Janis Joplin’s ‘Cheap Thrills’ album.

Now, here’s the Muppets-ised version.

I am very impressed. If you are also, go visit the artist’s blog and let him know.

Mother of All Funk Chords
Now, this is exactly what I needed on a Friday morning after a night of dreaming that Crumpet left me.

Tired
Another night of burning past midnight to try to get this project done. I know how Giz feels – at least in part!
I forgot to do my pushups, but I should have some time tonight. I hope. Christ.
The latest edition of Soundtrack Pro is less crashy but still feels like a beta. I managed to crash it during export several times, which may be a codec thing but come on Apple, graceful failures please.

Finishing up
Crumpet is in the other room preparing for her animation voiceover. I’m glad I picked up the new Logic Studio on the weekend as the new version of Soundtrack Pro is definitely easier to use. I’ve already made my final mix of the score and added a small amount of sound effects (I’ll need another 30 minutes to finish that part), and then all we need to do is export the lot and author it. Easy!

Close enough to final
Here’s a rough version (already out of date) of the track I made, hope you enjoy.
Even if you think it sucks, skip to the 2-minute point.

Phew
I’ve been working all day on the score to Crumpet’s massively long (6.5 minute) stop-motion animation. I’ll put a rough mix of it online once I’ve fixed a few niggly issues with it, but first we have to walk the dogs, because Tom is being silly.

Good Enough for me
Watch this clip and compare it to the current batch of pop singers – do any of them come this close to the album live?

How does karma do this??
Just last night I was telling Crumpet that I was feeling bad that I hadn’t bought any new music lately… then this morning I start listening to my leftover SXSW songs and find “Polynesia” by a Canadian band called Mother Mother. If the Pixies could do this well on their next album, I’ll be happy as a clam.
Listen! Embrace!
