Something that I’ve noticed recently on the roads: a growing minority of Japanese cars (particularly black Mazdas) equipped with European-style number plates. These plates in Victoria cost a cool $700, which is about $640 more than a standard slim-line set would put you back.
What are these drivers demonstrating – a desire to look more affluent than they are? Or is the Euro plate really so aesthetically pleasing that it should be our new standard?
I drive a European car and I couldn’t justify the mark-up for a slight difference in the appearance of the plates (I put the money into the Bluetooth option). I don’t really know where I’m going with this, I just find it interesting.
