Watched Sweeney Todd last night. Crumpet was very down on it when she saw it at the cinema, but I thought I’d give it a chance, and bugger me if I didn’t really enjoy it.
Crumpet said it was predictable and she didn’t like the songs… I personally was relishing the story, even though I could guess what was coming. It’s a musical, for crap’s sake, not War and Peace. And I liked several of the songs quite a lot, actually.
Oh, and the excess of blood made me giggle. Overall, I think it’s the most assured live-action film Tim Burton’s made so far. Excellent-looking Blu-ray, too.

The music didn’t do it for me either, by the end I was “nooooooooo not another song”
Complaining about songs in a musical is like complaining about explosions in an action film…
I have nothing against songs or musicals, I just didn’t like the songs in this particular musical. I thought they were boring.
