Bittersweet symphony

Published by Paul at 9:07 pm under General

Today I picked up the espresso machine that I have been nattering to all and sundry about for the last few weeks. It’s a Vibiemme Domobar Super, a real workhorse of a machine. The problem is that the grinder doesn’t arrive until later this week and I also don’t have a tamper worth a damn, so the shots we have been making for ourselves are… rather inconsistent, despite all the advice given to us by Chris at Talk Coffee.

Here it is sitting next to the Nemox it is replacing. See if you can guess which is which.

Thanks to Joffa and Vetti for christening it with some Bodum thermo glasses!

huzzah for the Vibiemme! sure you’ll love the Bodums - they are perfect coffee vessels imho…

Excellent buy. Mate has one and he’s a pro with it. I will have to sample and compare your productions. Ofcourse he roasts his own beans too. Is that next? A modded bread maker with heat gun like all the other coffeesnobs? :)

I’m interested in home roasting, but apparently it can be done with a popcorn maker (which we happen to have already). I’m game to try it, but I’ll wait until I don’t suck at making espresso…
