I agree, micromanagement is what usually turns me off strategy games after the initial excitement wears off (Sim City, the Sims, etc). I did complete the Homeworld games as the various armies could be assigned groups and I could pretend that I was only controlling 8-10 units instead of hundreds. Also, resource management was very limited – I only had to farm one resource and didn’t need to upgrade anything except the main ship.

Anyway, I’ve downloaded the Civ demo, yet to play it.

Played the demo last night, seems simplified from the later Civs, undoubtedly due to the complications of playing on a PS3.
Personally I think it’s a good thing, the later Civs got waaay too complicated. Will probably pick it up at some point.
