Snapper

Published by Paul under Geekery

An interesting article here about the Snapper lawnmower company, who stood up to Wal-Mart and refused to continue selling cheap mowers at the risk of losing their reputation for quality.

I wish this outlook still existed in the PC industry. No American computer company still makes their own products - they’re all outsourced and lower in quality than they used to be when they were made in the US. Even (and it is a little painful to say this) Apple.

Surburbia, NT style

Published by Paul under General

Wadeye is the sixth largest town in the Northern Territory. This is the view of the street we’re living in until Sunday.

I think I have a longer post brewing about what I see here, but it will have to wait…

Safe and sound

Published by Paul under General

Landed in Darwin safely a couple of nights ago. Can’t believe how much this town (I can’t call it a city with a straight face) resembles Florida. Palms and slow people a-go-go.

We got up at 6am today and caught the 8am flight to Wadeye. Not only do we have power and phone, but a 512/512 satellite internet connection! Pwr!

I downloaded 7 podcasts and will spend most of the day relaxing before heading out to take some photos this evening.
