The Prestige

Published by Paul under Film

Crump and I just got back from a screening of The Prestige. We both picked the twist, but thoroughly enjoyed it anyway.

A salt

Published by Paul under Macs

I finally got around to getting a replacement (non-explodey!) battery for my PowerBook yesterday. Having a battery life over 20 minutes is going to take some time to get used to again. In other ‘FU SONY’ news, the PS3 apparently sucks and everybody wants to have a Wii for Christmas. Ho ho.

I just earned $500!

Published by Paul under Geekery

A bit over a week ago I ordered a high-quality lens for my Canon EOS-400D (which still hasn’t arrived, but nevermind that right now). I just discovered that Canon are offering $500 cash back on that model lens (the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM if you must know), which drops the price from a shade over $1500 to just over a grand.

I am happy!

I made a video!

Published by Paul under Zoom-zoom

Once I’ve compressed it to my liking, I’ll send it to YouTube and cry at how shoddy it becomes…

And here it is, and yes indeed it looks like it’s wiped its bum with another turd…

I bought Guitar Hero 2

Published by Paul under Gaming

My first full-price game in about 2 years… and it made my hand hurt…

I went to an art show tonight. First year RMIT students, and the work was as shambolic as I expected.

I like..

I like this Inquisitor thingy. It changes Safari’s search box to use predictive autocomplete… oh, and it looks funky.

I also really like this totally awesome room. Do you?

Great big sigh

Published by Paul under Geekery

I just had a call from one of our customers a few minutes ago. I visited her a couple of months ago to clean spyware from her PC, which had become so infected that it couldn’t boot anymore. Her Windows was non-genuine, so she couldn’t update it, and her daughter was downloading all sorts of crap with Limewire.

Last week I cleaned it for the second time. This time she took my advice and bought a genuine copy of Windows, and I set her daughter up as a limited user so that she couldn’t install software that the mother hadn’t vetted.

Anyhow, the mother asked how to install Limewire again. I don’t know why I bother.

Silly Justin

Published by Paul under General

Currently the list of items left behind by Justin when he returned to NZ is:

1 PS2 game
1 pair of shoes
1 T-shirt
1 shirt

..fairly impressive, even better than Crumpet’s brother!

Maths is fun

Published by Paul under General

I got some spam email today asking me if I would like ‘my dick in millions of women’.

And to be honest, I don’t think I would. I really don’t have the time.

Let’s assume you could insert your dick into a woman, withdraw and move on to the next woman in 5 seconds. That’s about as fast as I think you could manage it, taking all the variance into account.

Now, assuming you don’t eat, sleep, go to the toilet or anything… you’re still looking at one and a half years of solid insertion/removal duty if we work with a pool of 2 million women. That doesn’t sound like fun to me. I certainly can’t imagine maintaining a year-long erection.
