Something that I remembered

Published by Paul at 11:51 pm under General

It must be because Christmas is coming up - today I recalled the worst Christmas present I ever got. It was back when I was about 9, and I’d wanted one of those compilation cassettes (advertised on TV!) that I’m sure most of you listened to when you were young and too stupid to know better. I was so excited when I unwrapped it but when I put it on, oh the humanity!

NOT THE ORIGINAL ARTISTS!

…Yep, that cassette (well, it was a double cassette) never made it through a single side.

My best ever Christmas present of course was Henry.

Do any of you have any best/worst Christmas present stories?

Yeah. When I was a probably 10 or 11, I remember being impressed by burly muscle men. So I mentioned it to my mum, in the middle of the year. By Christmas I had gotten well over it, and I wanted a remote control car. My Christmas present that year seemed to roll back and forth in the box - I thought I was getting an RC car, which was super. But when I opened it, it was a set of weights……

As for best - well, there’s the Takamine that Mrs Gizo got me the other year, and the year I got my puppy, Blodger, as an early Christmas present.
One of the most important though, was the year that I was lost in the wilderness, and someone sent me a set of guitar strings in the mail for Christmas. That moved me.. Thanks…

My best Xmas story ever was several years ago. I’m present-hander-outer at Mum’s each year, and her new bloke was so chuffed that we’d all got/made him something that he almost cried.

Worst was the tragic street stall guy selling his kids presents cos his gambling addicted wife had got them evicted from their house.
