Demeritised

November 28, 2006 by paul

I just got a speeding fine in the post today. My crime? Apparently I was doing 60 in a 50 zone, somewhere along Nicholson St. I wasn’t aware there were any 50 zones along Nicholson St, but nevermind. Fortunately I was brought to justice before my outrageous speed could cause death or injury to others. Oh, wait. I guess nothing happened… except for dropping $134 into the government’s pocket.

NOW THE WORLD IS SAFE!

I love it when people get all indignant about copping speeding fines.
Don’t think that I don’t feel for you though.
As for the outrageousness of your speed, why don’t you go out and drive Mopsy into a puppy at 60km/h and see what happens?

oh, and I like the new header image… moody…

It’s not speeding unless you get caught. You got caught, you were speeding. Amatuer!!!

something DID happen – you are have learned of the 50 zone on Nicholson St…and that “free education” no longer exists :)

I’m still not sure where this 50 zone actually is. Oh well.

Do you think the dog would be less dead if I hit it at 50km/h? I don’t.

Point is that road fatalities are a fraction of what they were in the 60s and 70s, yet they keep introducing lower and lower speed limits when speed plays such an insignificant part in road accidents.

To some extent I agree Paul, let’s introduce more and more 40kmh speed zones but do nothing about teaching young kids and even some adults how to cross a road safely. What ever happened to “Look right, look left, look right”. Even in the ad where they go slo-mo on that lady being hit by a car travelling 65, she does not ONCE look at the direction of where the cars are coming from.

exactly red5, my blood boils for that ad, there’s no responsibility at all placed on the pedestrian for entering a potentially lethal area and acting like a complete moron.

  9. on November 29, 2006 at 9:22 am Vetti

speaking of ads, we need one that says “if you walk into traffic while talking on your mobile you’re a bloody idiot”

I agree with the response to the TAC ad. It is ridiculous. I also balk at the one where the cars hit the truck, with the faster car hitting the end of the trailer and smashing the window.

And yes, science shows us that the puppy would be 10km/h less dead. ;)

    I’d hardly call that “living”!

  14. on November 29, 2006 at 5:36 pm Vetti

are we ever going to see a TAC ad starring a realistic accident scenario and a puppy?

Is this the most popular blog entry to date? Nothing like real drama in someones day to bring out the best and worst of his friends. :P
