Paper

Published by Paul under Film

Crumpet finished editing her stop-motion project last night, so I’ve been spending some time today working on sound effects for it. It’s been kinda entertaining recording the sound of crumpling paper with a thousand-dollar tube microphone (thanks, Joel).

I recycled one of my short music pieces for the intro… let’s see if Crumpet likes it or not.

Craziness

What I want to know is, if these are banned, how are kids ever going to learn??

In less sexy news, I picked up a TomTom GPS device today. I figure better to spend the money on a GPS rather than the insurance cost of running up somebody’s backside when trying to work out which way I’m supposed to be going to reach a customer…

…wow, what a run-on sentence that was.

The Fox

As a child of the 80’s, watching this political advertisement brought a small tear to my eye. Goddamn, nothing saddens me more than terminal disease. My aunt is suffering from motor neurone disease, and it’s heartbreaking to watch her decline.

Trippin’

I just ordered myself one of these. Tax-deductible, I’m hoping. Having a trip computer in the 6MPS was a real eye-opener - you never realise just how much fuel you’re using when you put your foot down, and hopefully having a constant readout will temper my excesses somewhat… :)

A blog post

Published by Paul under General

Everybody seems to be doing it, apparently.

Today was hot, mentally taxing (had to fix an old PowerMac that mysteriously stopped booting and rebuild a couple of virus-infested Windows boxes) and did I mention it was hot? This room is sweltering, noisy (thanks Intel for your hellspawn Pentium 4 design), and frankly not a huge amount of fun to be in, but I have to get these machines finished for tomorrow as they’re needed by students before their exams.

Anyhow, have some evil frivolity.

Sandy!

Published by Paul under Geekery

Quite a while ago Crumpet pointed out that Amazon were offering pre-orders of Neil Gaiman’s The Absolute Sandman, Vol 1 for only $14.99 (retail is $99). Naturally I jumped right on it, but later in the week Amazon posted a corrected price of around $65. I assumed my order would be cancelled, but lo and behold, this morning I got an email telling me my $14.99 order has shipped… how odd!

Oh well, can’t complain when something goes my way for a change, can I.

Eek!

I met this little fella (and by little I mean about an inch long) tonight in the bathroom. Well, actually I first noticed it when it was under a foot away from my face!

Yep, it’s a white-tail.

As is typical for the nasty bitey spiders, I took it far away outside and released it, with a stern warning that next time it would get squashed!
