Hamachi

This seems pretty cool.

It’s zero-config VPN software, cross-platform and free. I’m installing it on a couple of my boxes, with the intent of giving some friends access to my music collection. :)

I hate the Met

Published by Paul under General

So, I bought a monthly ticket the day before I lost my job. I hadn’t used it so I hoped I could get a refund, because I could really use the $95 on feeding myself. Sadly, the Met don’t consider $95 enough of a waste of cash to offer refunds. Insert an appropriate expletive here.

Travelling…

Published by Paul under Music

I’ve had a bit of time to play with the MOTU Traveler. It’s quite amazing. My Alesis monitors sound 100% better than they did when I was driving them with the PowerBook’s headphone output (not surprising really, as a headphone output is the wrong impedance and level!). All my mixes now show every fault clearly and I’m going to have to remix them all. Doing that should get me quite acquainted with Logic. Yes, it’s intimidating.

Mirrormask

Published by Paul under Film

The Crump and I watched Mirrormask last night, and I’d have to say it’s the most visually stunning piece of work I’ve ever seen. The trailer does a terrible job of getting the mood of the piece across, but if you liked Labyrinth when you were a kid or just love fantasy in general, check it out. We’re on a bit of a Neil Gaiman kick at the moment, so seeing it was inevitable.

I hate Preston

Published by Paul under General

I left an old 14″ monitor out on the naturestrip a couple of days ago hoping that somebody would come pick it up and get some use out of it. In another suburb that might have happened, but I noticed today that it’s lying on the other side of the road with the screen smashed in. Fucking idiots.

In other news, my Traveler has arrived in Melbourne, but as I can’t get it delivered to my office or Crumpet’s work it’s going to have to wait until Friday when she will hopefully still have a day off. Which sucks.
