Interesting…

Published by Paul under General

Well, the interview has been done and I find out what’s what on Monday. Naturally I did well on the tech stuff, with lots of boxes ticked. They have reservations about my ability to quickly build rapport with customers, which is fair enough. I’ve always hated service people that natter at me, and prefer techs that do the job quickly, quietly and efficiently rather than sloppily with a lot of chatter. I guess we’ll see. Meanwhile I’ll keep applying for jobs. :)

PS: I need new pants. My current dress pants, although claiming to be a size 37, barely fit me. I was MUFFIN TOPPING BABY! Not good, thank Christ the shirt covered my corpulent gut.

Huh!

Published by Paul under General

I just got a call offering me an interview tomorrow.

Basic gist of the job: Mobile installer and consultant for SME/SOHO customers, the company contracts with Harvey Norman so I’d be setting up systems for their customers and selling services, etc. Not exactly where I see myself staying for a huge amount of time but as my mother would undoubtedly say, it’s a job.

The basic wage is $30k + super + car + performance bonuses, which means at the very least I’m no worse off than I was at my previous job. More info tomorrow, I guess!

Hrmm

Published by Paul under Music

I created this messed up piece of music today. As punishment, the gods have given me a really, really sore shoulder. It should play in iTunes.

…the song, not my shoulder.

The new Sigur Rós album…

…is called Takk, and it’s beautiful. Thanks to the joy of Bittorrent, I have another CD to add to my wishlist. Giz, I think you might like it. Keith, I know you’ll hate it.

14+14

Published by Paul under General

I just added my voice to the 14+14 campaign in the UK. It’s a proposal to return the copyright law to the original 14 years (plus an optional 14 years extension) that existed back before corporations realised it was easier to milk their old properties than to create new ones. The end result is that the public domain basically doesn’t exist anymore, giving artists no simple way to build on other’s work.

For Giz

Published by Paul under Music

Giz, here’s the track we were working on on Saturday night, with bass and the extra guitar bit included.

Erm, and I added a bunch more crap onto the end. I had fun, and I’ll listen again tomorrow to work out how many of the parts I added suck. :)

*link yanked cos the song is way different now*

Here come the nibbles

Published by Paul under General

Hello Squozen,

Thank you for your response to the above position. As we have been inundated with applicants the short listing process can now begin.

Could you please complete the attached form, and return it to me by Thursday morning at the latest. This is the standard department of education technical support request document. Unfortunately the nature of the questions relate to fairly antiquated software, the actual technology used in the department is up to date.

Thankyou,

Sincerely,

Prospective Employer Type
